After an extensive interview process where a number of high quality individuals were interviewed, the Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Damien Theisz as Senior Coach for the 2015 season.
Club President Tim Money said the appointment of Damien will certainly place us in a good position to push further up the grades.
“The last couple of seasons whilst we have been building in the right direction, we have been unable to take the next step and achieve success in finals. I believe Damien has the passion and conviction to take the Club to Premier B & beyond and with his appointment the Club enters a very new and exciting period. No one embodies the Marcellin spirit more than Damien and his appointment is a step in getting our Club back to where it belongs.”
Damien, also known to many as ‘DT’, is a Club Life Member having played over 200 games between 1996-2009 in the maroon and blue.
He has been involved in various capacities at Marcellin dating back to the early 1980s. “He has been involved at the Club for over 30 years and is a true Marcellin person” Money said. Most recently at Marcellin, Damien served as Vice President from 2007-2009, along with coaching our Reserves in 2011.
Money went onto say, “having been involved as a player in the most successful period in our Club's history through the 90s and early 2000s, Damien certainly knows what it takes to be successful in the heat of finals battle. We look to our coaches to develop our youth, embrace the Club wholeheartedly, and to make Marcellin a team to be feared in the VAFA once more. Damien is certainly the right man for the job in all facets. I as President wish him all the best and am very much looking forward to working with him in 2015 and beyond.”
An information night will be held in the coming weeks where all pre-season details and player expectations will be provided. The Club is also still looking to fill the positions of Reserves & U/19's Coach. If you are interested, please send through your application to marcellinocfc@gmail.com.
Once again, we congratulate Damien on his appointment and we look forward to building towards the 2015 season.
Go Eagles!
