To all associated within the Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club family.
I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year and are enjoying your Australia Day long weekend with family and friends.
2015 shapes up as a massive year for the Club with nothing short of returning to Premier B being acceptable. To make this a reality, it is going to take a lot of hard work and commitment from everyone. As previously stated if we continue to do the same thing we will continue to get the same result – things must change and they will.
Round 1, Saturday 11April is less than 11 weeks away and our first practice match Saturday 14 March is less than 7 weeks away. Pre-season training starts this Wednesday 28 January at Marcellin College, 6:00pm sharp. Please arrive early and be ready to start training on time. All players are required to attend and if you plan on being a part of the Club in 2015 then the time to act is now. Moving forward training will be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. All sessions are compulsory.
As previously stated the focus in the pre-season, post Christmas will be focusing on the following four areas:
- Professionalism – We must start acting like a Premier A club on and off the field. This means preparing better, demanding more out of each other, not accepting mediocrity and pushing each other to the limit. This is not negotiable.
- Skills – There will be a strong focus on improving our skills. Every session will involve lots of touches and we will be working hard on our kicking in the pre-season. This will be done under pressure and fatigue to simulate match conditions. Our skills must improve and they will.
- Game Plan & Strategy – We will do a lot of work on our game plan and strategy in the 11 weeks leading up to Round 1. Every player will know exactly what is expected of them and what to do in any given situation. Players will be required to follow team rules and play a team first style of footy.
- Fitness – Our fitness must improve in Season 2015. We will focus on improving our speed and endurance to make sure we are the fittest team in the competition. This is so important to our success and we will work extremely hard on it.
I am absolutely pumped to get back into it and can’t wait for the first practice match in 7 weeks time, that will come around very quickly. I know we had a really good pre-Christmas, pre-season and I know a lot of guys have continued that form so well done. As we’ve previously stated the harder you work, the luckier you get and I can guarantee you one thing we won’t leave anything to chance in season 2015. If we do the hard work, nobody will stop us.
Enjoy the rest of your Australia Day weekend and I look forward to getting down to business with you all this Wednesday.
Go Eagles!
